The CLAY is a playful Trail bike, designed to excel when it get´s rough. Same as it´s loved predecessor the HERB AM, it features a slack geometry that will increase your speed on your home trail and beyond. It is designed to withstand the elements guaranteeing lot´s of riding without wrenching.
The SL build features the best and lightest components we would choose for our own trail bike: Fully adjustable Rock Shox Pike RCT3 fork with updated Charger damper and Deluxe RT3 shock. Sram´s XO1 Eagle 12-speed wide range drive train including the high end carbon crank option. The XMC 1200 Spline wheel set is made by DT SWISS featuring carbon rims with 30 mm inside width. The superior Rock Shox 1x Remote dropper post. The cockpit is composed by the new 77designz stema and a Renthal Fatbar in 780 mm width. We are happy to assist with customization needs to match your riding style and helping you to choose the correct frame size, stem length and handlebar rise.
“The CLAY is playful and easy to handle. The suspension feels much better than you would expect of a bike with this amount of travel.“
This is what Jörg Heydt, co-owner of LAST says about his experiences while racing and road tripping with the 140 mm travel CLAY prototype all season long.
Responsible for the efficient suspension is the rocker actuated suspension system, that applies a metric shock for the damping. The linkage allows to tune the force vs displacement curve independent of other aspects – for example the path of the rear axle. Mid travel the characteristic is linear withstarting progression, which increases to a profound progression towards the end. The result is great feedback from the terrain, allowing you to use even small features to get airborne and push efficiently through berms.
The CLAY-Geometry is characterized by the slack head angle of 65,2°, providing control and safety at the edge of grip. This comes combined with a steep seat angle of 75,3° for a great climbing position. The short 429 mm (16 7/8 inch) chain stay length makes manuals very easy. The top tube lengths are moderate; they contribute to make the CLAY a very playful ride.
